A great extension - so easy to use and make it the way you desire. I have tried many dark modes and this is my favorite! Thanks! The best I can find. I recommend it! The best one out there!

Works nicely, much better than others that I have used including a paid night mode app. When the developer makes donations available (they are working on it according to their webpage), I will gladly donate some funds since this extension is simple to use and actually functions properly. Thank you for your creation!

My W10 night time settings stopped working after a recent update. It hurt my eyes to look at my pc screen for a long period of time in the evening. Happy to come across this app accidentally while checking out google app store. Didn’t even of there might be an app like this. Thank you for creating this app! It is definitely better than W10 night time settings. Dark theme not only helps the eyes, but it makes the screen so much cooler to look at.

Update: Despite google’s absurd meddling with their own product, Night Eye works in google docs if you install it, turn it on, and then restart the browser. Good enough for me. But if you back out to the main docs page it turns off again, and to start it back up you need to shutdown the browser and restart. So, open each doc you want to work on in it’s own tab. Eeesh, thanks a lot google. Update: Wow, after a few years, I come back… and it’s fixed. Even better they did an ingenious thing and improved the extension above and beyond my own perfectionistic suggestions. The line being typed on is now highlighted in black while than the rest of the background is dark charcoal, this makes it easier to see the cursor’s location and draws the user’s attention to the line being edited. I’d like to believe that I’d have come up with the same improvement. Real genius, regardless. I’ll update if I decide not to buy. Fat chance? The Old News: This came so close to being the one that despite its imperfect contrast I would have paid for it, but for a fatal flaw. When typing in Google Docs the entire line of text you’re typing on flashes with every keystroke, which is a deal breaker. This extension does work better on YouTube than Deluminate, which has an issue with Youtube’s theater mode. Deluminate also can’t produce a black background with easy on the eyes low contrast light grey text, as its low contrast mode instead leaves text white while brightening the background to a dark shade of grey. This important ability is also sadly missing from Night Eye as though it does produce light grey text the background is a shade of grey which falls well short of black, which is very disappointing. The idea is to minimize light entering the eyes at night, so a black background with light grey text is the ideal, as it maximizes comfort while minimizing light entering the eyes. This ideal can be achieved by creating a new theme in TLV Night Mode, which is easy. TLV does well with YouTube, but also has an issue with Google Docs, being that the cursor becomes invisible, another deal breaker. So, despite an annoying youtube imperfection and an inability to achieve a black background with light grey text, Deluminate is the current champ, at least barring a come from behind win by the ridiculously complicated Midnight Lizard. What needs to happen is that Google needs to take this on themselves. Windows 10 already has a dark mode, so if a paid extension can’t even get this right, then Google may be our only hope of a universal solution. On to testing the dreaded Midnight Lizard.

The definitive dark theme plugin! Not only does it alter every website in an intelligent way rather than just invert colors like some other plugins, but it also alters images to be easier on the eyes. Anyone complaining and leaving negative reviews because a developer wants to be paid for their hard work should be ashamed. The first 3 months are free and it’s only $9 a year (less than 20c a week) after that. Creating something of this scale is months of work followed by constant maintenance and support afterwards. I for one believe that people should be paid for their hard work.

I will totally pay for this, its worth its weight in gold especially for people who work on a computer. people need to stop being cheap, damn. Buy it at the end of the trial and stop complaining.
