Extremely useful app as a companion to a system wide Dark Mode for Mac OS — I have made it a habit to press option + shift + D to activate Dark Reader once my Mac switches to Dark Mode such that all websites in Chrome follow the same color scheme. Very much recommended, no problems with the app whatsoever. The only feature request I’d have is to have the ability to have Dark Reader turn on an off according to the current system mode, such that I wouldn’t have to do it manually every day :)

Does exactly what you want it / need it to do–gives you a nice dark background on just about any site you visit, with a balance that doesn’t kill your eyeballs while you’re laying in bed trying to wind down (and not wake up your significant other). You’ll encounter the occasional wonky sites that don’t seem to mesh well with the addon, but few and far between. One of the few features I plan to keep on my browser for the long-term.

I just recently started using Dark Reader but it’s been great so far. It’s cut back on my computer related headaches and allows me to retain my night vision in my room at night. The fine tuning of certain aspects of the extension is also very handy. Some of the settings may have unexpected differences. So, please keep reading. If you have light sensitivity, this is a very useful extension. I won’t say, “It’s the perfect extension for you!!” because it’s a dangerous blanket phrase and what everyone says about catchy extensions. I will say, properly utilized it is very useful and helpful for those who can benefit from darkened themes. However, keep in mind, it may also visually eliminate some website table frames/borders and text entry areas that are important to see. So, testing out on websites is a must. Keep an eye out for parts of a website that you need to see when using them and see if borders darken too much, important drop down menus and things like that. This extension seems to do a good job at translating necessary sections, but it totally made things disappear for some. However, with some tweaking you can recover some parts. It took a little experimentation to get the hang of some of the features with some websites but all of the time spent doing that was worth it. Checking out all of the features and settings is worth the time. Granted there aren’t that many settings. However, you can combine some settings to get the job done. So, do check them out and carefully experiment with the settings. This was one of the better choices in installing. In my experience, some extensions I uninstall after a week, sometimes a month. Also, some I barely use but still keep around because of their usefulness when they are needed. This is the kind of extension I’ve been looking for and you may take it for granted after awhile. However, without it, you will realize how useful it is. So, this extension recommendation presented to me was perfect and was worth installing. I hope it works for you as much as it’s worked for me.

It is a good app that really not just inverting the color which is weird sometimes on the webpage. And i’m waiting for the auto mode to have a customised time schedule. Thanks for your effort and the free version offered!
